As always, it's nice to have all these charts to review.

I think we've seen a risk off move by the major market participants and also some "tax selling" that was put off into the new year. It's very interesting to read through many of the views posted over the past few days. The parallels to 2000-01, 08-09, and now 16-17 for how the market reacts to the last year of an 8 year US presidential term is only one of the many ways people are trying to assess this market.

We've finally reached earnings season, so we will learn a lot more about how the different sectors are not only performing but how the market's forward views are being adjusted. Risk off appears to be the rule of thumb at the moment.

Anecdotal evidence is here in the reversal watch portfolio. It's been a while since I've had this many stocks on the list and not one of them up over 5%! Les H's tables are also confirming the bearishness out there....less than 20% of his database of stocks are over their 200MA!!
