I didn't support lifelong Democrat Wallace. He was famous for standing in a school house door to prevent integration. I grew up believing I had a small amount of black ancestry and would never support him for that reason. One of my grandmothers spent the first 5 years of her life in the small black section of two small towns, was delivered by a black midwife, all her little friends black. Before she began school, the family moved to a farm in the country where everyone was white and she went to a small country schoolhouse.
