The way I read it he was looking at the unsubsidized cost of the plan. This is what rational people who don't want to their burdens dumped on future generations will do. While it is unique compared to what most liberals do, I have met many people who do give a damn about the debt. This program becomes a bigger disaster by the week and you can't really miss it unless you are trying really, really hard.
