Since when have children become so much different than they were in the 50's, 60's, or 70's? I can't imagine that turning off the television or disposing of it altogether is somehow going to automatically make children more interested in the arts.

Now if you're saying that encouraging them in that type of direction from an early age could help them to appreciate these types of activities in the future, okay, I'll buy that, but that wasn't really what I was refering to in the first place. Somehow, I find the word underclass is not synonymous with sophistication. However, it is totally up to each individual parent as to how or what they wish to encourage their children to pursue. I simply don't see how guiding them towards the arts is going to improve the society in the long run.

BTW, twisted is as twisted does. Watch the finger pointing. <smirk>

I see my last guilt trip e-mail had no effect. I need to improve my minipulative skills. :-)
