Sankar,

We substantially agree.

I think I should clarify a few things that may have been unclear
from my original postings....

I am a US citizen and work for a global company in its US headquarters. I do communicate with employees in other parts
of the world as well as non-US citizens who work at headquarters.

The observation I intended to make was about those employees I'm
in contact with and non-employees here in the US - my sense is that
the non-US folks are more concerned than those in the US. I DO
agree, however, that the top echelons of the US government, IMF,
etc. are very concerned and are delivering money to match that concern, mixed with public announcements aimed to avoid panic. I claim that the readiness of the US public to buy stocks indicates it underestimates the US consequences of the Asian flu and I'm concerned that this misjudgment will combine with anti-Asian prejudice to limit US aid.
