1/15/16 Contest update After they recaptured the Mexican shorty, aka El Chapo, I was hoping Wall Street’s shortys would retreat to their underground bunkers. Maybe a few did on Thursday but, to my dismay, they came roaring back today. (For more on El Chapo, see this: on.cc.com When the closing bell finally rang, the Contest median was down for the count of -24.68% YTD (vs. down -13.01% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -16.04% YTD (vs. down -10.74% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -21.54% YTD (vs. down -13.90% a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed down -10.36% YTD (vs. down -7.26% YTD a week ago). Contest portfolios have been devastated to the extent where MASTER’s portfolio has the lead with a double-digit YTD loss of -12.39%. Second place goes to JBOG’s portfolio, down a piddling -15.10% YTD, with FRED’s portfolio, down -15.22% YTD, in third place. At Friday's close, all 58 Contest portfolios were in the red, with just 3 beating the NBI and 18 beating the SPSIBI. The 224 Contest stock picks have an average YTD loss of -22.10% and a median YTD loss of -22.28%. Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks for the week ranked by % Gained and % Lost YTD. Portfolio adjustments: None (All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.) Don’t let the lousy market ruin your weekend biotechies! Peace & good health, Bulba
