Hi Glenn!
According to the recent S4 filing by CAV (12/2/97), they are planning a shareholders meeting on December 31, 1997, to vote on the details of the merger.
I just started following this stock, so I am planning to spend some time on their filings (S-4 alone is 210 pages), I'll be more specific then.

If you're interested, you can find these filings at FreeEDGAR (it really is free, but you may have to register. Let me know if you find anything of interest.
