The Y2K problem is very real for large organizations of all types world wide. These companies, institutions, governments etc, run their applications on large computers using application software that may be twenty or thirty years old. The applications are constantly being updated for business reasons as well as for compliance with ever changing government rules and regulations.

Some applications can be replaced before the year 2000, others cannot. Do you know how long it takes to implement a major SAP installation? Years, not months. For large organizations, it is mainly a project and program management issue. It is very real and very costly.
