I should add that the problem with most of these oil exploration companies is they took on debt to buy oil in the ground at much higher prices. APC's debt is on the order of $17 Billion. The underlying assets are going to be marked down substantially as they have to value them based on year end oil prices, so the assets are going to fall about 33% because oil dropped about that much yoy.
