I have found that an economics degree is the preferred training for web design. It has something to do with achieving an unparalleled level of boredom exemplified by the re-organization one's sock drawer in statistical sample populations of pattern, color, and inspector name (#108, Doris #32, etc...). After that, anything looks good.

And it definitely has something to do with making money vs. starving.

ps. the president of a bank I once worked at was a French major; a most pertinent training for young aspiring financiers. One of the three "Romantic Languages" (Italian and Yiddish, the remainder), French is useful in the personal loan industry as bankers are trained to get 'personal' if one misses too many payments.
