Creating your own video from scratch will depend a lot on your video equipment and the software that came with it. Also there are many 3rd party video editing programs that you can transfer your videos into for editing.

Personally I have Pinnacle Studio version 14 that's pretty easy, but you can use any of them. Also video cameras often come their own editing software or you can download a few other trial versions of video software to find something you are comfortable with.
