The pineapple express will send plumes of moisture to the Pacific NW this week. A trough will drop down the west coast this weekend & interact with the moisture plumes. This will lead to a lot of moisture getting squeezed over California, Sierras, and Rockies. The storm will cross the Rockies and give the nowhere-ville prairies a nice blizzard, eventually moving to Minnesota and Hudson Bay. This storm will open the flood gates for a near record cold air outbreak for the east coast ~Feb 3 (rain/melting out east until then). After that, more storms for east coast for 6 weeks. This period will define the winter of 2016.
