For those seeking information on the progress of CDMA and Qualcomm the following may be of interest:

1. The October 1996 issue of Money Magazine quotes an unidentified Qualcomm employee as saying Qualcomm's fiscal 4th quarter earnings will be "under pressure" from research and development expenses.

2. Sprint Spectrum has changed its name to Sprint PCS.

3. Mr. Andrew Sukawaty, CEO of Sprint PCS, announced at the recent PCS '96 trade show that CDMA PCS will be launched in November 1996. Sprint PCS expects by the end of this calender year to have launched CDMA PCS service in 15 to 20 markets. The rest of the markets it has licenses for will begin CDMA PCS service by the end of the 1st quarter of 1997.

4. Sprint PCS awarded a $600 million contract to Samsung for CDMA phones with initial deliveries to begin in April 1997.
