Be very careful about DEC. They have significantly reduced their cost of operations and are extremely well positioned to take advantage of the booming NT server market with the powerful Alpha platforms; they are doing very well with Unix Alpha platforms as well.
The competition has always been there and DEC has focussed its energies quite well to be competitive in specific markets. You could potentially get burned with this short, IMO.
