For Zombie Apocalypse EMP proof vehicles, my choice would be something equipped with an old-school Diesel engine having mechanical fuel injection. Those clanky old Diesels can run on various oil-based fuel mixtures (heating oil?). Regular gasoline now has Ethanol which tends to eat the fuel systems of older cars and decreases its longevity in storage. That being said, I use only Premium fuel for my snowblower and lawn mower (contains no ethanol at least from some stations in my area). My daily driver takes regular gas because the gas doesn't stay in there long enough to go bad.
