Tsinghua Unigroup to build own DRAM fab, says report
Jessie Shen, DIGITIMES, Taipei [Tuesday 2 February 2016]
China's state-backed Tsinghua Unigroup reportedly plans to build its own DRAM fab and invite Micron Technology to be a shareholder of the fab, according to a report by Taiwan's Central News Agency (CNA),which cited market rumors.

The plan is also to have Micron transfer its DRAM technology in exchange for a stake in the fab, said the report.

In December 2015, Micron disclosed plans to acquire Inotera's remaining shares for consideration worth NT$30 (US$0.92) per share. Micron has about a 33% stake in Inotera, whose major shareholders also include Taiwan's Formosa Group companies such as Nanya Technology.

On the heels of Micron's announcement, Nanya issued a statement saying the company has agreed to sell its stake in Inotera to Micron, and plans to buy a portion of Micron's equity for up to NT$31.5 billion.

Micron said it expects to complete its Inotera takeover in the middle of 2016.

Both Inotera and Nanya use Micron's designs to make DRAM chips.
