2/5/16 Contest update
Imbeciles is how biotech bad boy Martin Shkreli characterized his congressional inquisitors in a tweet after appearing at their drug price hearing. How many more days of punishment to my biotech stocks will it take before I think of that word when I look at myself in the mirror?
On to this week’s dismal numbers: At Friday’s close, the Contest median was down -30.08% YTD (vs. down -27.20% YTD a week ago), the Nasdaq Biotech Index (NBI) was down -24.32% YTD (vs. down -21.01% YTD a week ago) and the smaller-cap S&P Biotechnology Select Industry Index (SPSIBI) was down -31.13% YTD (vs. down -28.16% a week ago). The Nasdaq Composite Index (NCI) closed down -12.87% YTD (vs. down -7.86% YTD a week ago).
JBOG’s portfolio was able to retain the Contest lead with a -13.94% YTD loss. DODGY’s portfolio, down -16.88% YTD, held on to second place and DOUGH’s portfolio, down -18.01% YTD, remained in third place.
At Friday's close, all 58 Contest portfolios were still in the red, with 13 beating the NBI and 32 beating the SPSIBI. The 224 Contest stock picks have an average YTD loss of -27.46% and a median YTD loss of -28.89%.
