I know someone who has a couple hundred million and he still balks at spending $55k on anything, including a car -- he drives a 15 yr. old Nissan... though he did splurge and buy a mountain in W. Central Washington State, as well as a villa on a mtn. in France overlooking a lake and the Swiss border... he likes to jump off mtns. in those paraglider/parachute contraptions -- he calls it "flying"... to each his own, I suppose... (he was employee 54 at MSFT, personally recruited by Bill G. (they went to school together at Lakeside -- one of the top two private schools in the country), retired at 34 after 12 years of 80-hr workweeks and 0 days off for vacation or illness... aside from his "estates", he lives quite frugally and is steadily giving away his fortune and wants to die broke...
