Not true. There are few actual hard liners on either side, although one would never know that just from following this thread.

Conservatives are more prone to self reliance, to hold themselves and others primarily responsible for behavior and the consequences of behavior. They are more likely to take responsibility for their own safety via self defense preparation. They are more likely to assert themselves in endeavor and take responsibility for failure as good sports rolling with the punches.

Liberals are more likely to blame the system for personal failure and to hold the state responsible for their short comings and outcomes that are unfavorable, while congratulating themselves and taking full credit for accomplishments.

Both are able to discuss issues that concern the public with liberals taking more of a nanny state position and conservatives taking more of a position of personal responsibility.
