" ... I think this doesn't scream a buy"

Yes, the mere fact that a company's share price has fallen about 80% in the last 9 months, and hasn't far to go before it's less than a dollar, doesn't necessarily mean that it's now a "bargain" because, surely, it can only go up from here.

It can either wallow down there for many more months or the company can also go 'belly up'.

So why put one's money on a speculative bet when one could be earning something with it somewhere else with a lot better ?

IMO, you will never go wrong doing your Research and DD as you explained. One needs to know what's going on within the "engine room" of a company and what potential prospects are out there.

BUT at the end of the day, the one sure way of knowing how a company is actually doing, Financially, is to interrogate the RELEVANT components of its 3 Financial Statements.
By monitoring TCS's future Quarterlies and Annuals it will become evident as to whether or not there's a valid case for putting one's hard earned cash into their stock.

In that regard one of the world's most successful stock market investors has shown us how he does it and how he has been doing it very successfully for decades. Therefore is there a need to reinvent the wheel ?

I've placed a summary of Warren's "Game Plan" in my board's header for anyone who may be interested ....
