Cymeed, as much as I would like to agree with you, dismissing Komatsu and Lambda out-of-hand may be wishful thinking. Look at Akins's letter to Barron's - they expect serious competition and make no promises of maintaining the market share at current levels. As per last 10Q, they do expect to be able to protect their right to produce lasers in Japan, but it is Komatsu that's claiming patent infringement, not the other way around.

I wish I could proceed from expressing general concerns towards evaluating CYMER's technical lead over its competitors, but my understanding of laser technology is extremely limited. Does anybody on the thread know which critical elements protected by patents distinguish the CYMER laser?

TIA,

Y.
