"Superdelegates"—and their importance to Hillary Clinton—are back in the news
Old whackadoodle koany, over on epi's thread, makes a very valid point. This brings back shades of the 1968 election. The anti-establishment candidate was Eugene McCarthy. I was just a high school kid, but I worked on his primary campaigns, both in Oregon (where he won) and in CA (when RFK got shot).
When the establishment at the violence wracked, Dem convention chose Humphrey, it ended up handing the election to Nixon, as anger and hostility split the Dem Party and younger voters stayed away in droves. Different issue then (Viet Nam), but the same anti establishment sentiment as now. It will happen again this year, as passionate Bernie supporters will feel back stabbed and screwed by the establishment DNC and the "super delegates" who have ignored them, and committed their votes to Hilda (whose candidacy will not survive the email thing, BTW. Her collapse is imminent, count on it.)
You lefties laugh at the so called "GOP clowns", but your Party is in much deeper excrement. Whether it's the crooked old cow or the crazy old commie or some other leftover they drag out of the woods that carries the Dem banner, it's the name of a river in Egypt that best describes the outlook of your gang. The GOP is a mess, but it ain't nearly as bad a mess as the Dems have brought upon themselves.. |
