It supports the conclusion that was raised in the blog post, not quite so much the argument that was used to get to the conclusion.

Well maybe in a way it even supports the argument. Both are examples of people using money to buy influence, its just that one example is a leftist politician and the other is rich non-politicians.

Either way to the extent that money can buy influence over government a big activist government gives more power to those who control the money (either through being rich, or through getting to decide how government spending is directed).
