Karl:
I am also a fan of STDM at these levels and believe the following
will occur due to the merger:
* Lower overall disk drive pricing as the drive Mfr's price stictly on vloume. This is a +
*Lower tape pricing - Same as above - Another ++
* Lower operating cost's ( labor etc) in San Diego than in Silicon Valley.++
* Add'l salespeople (veteran) in areas where today there is no coverage ( from the press release)++
*Overall admin cost cuts as there is no reason to support (2) admin systems.+++
* The addition of UNIX products to STDM as well as the addition of NT products for Artecon.

My concerns are the price drop on Friday.

Long term ( after the two co.'s transition into one ) I believe this will be a VERY solid company.

At <$4 I think this is a VERY good buy.

I am new to this format as well as a recent purchaser of STDM stock. In reviewing the "chat" notes you seem to have followed this stock very closely and I would be interested in your thoughts on the above.

HAPPY NEW YEAR to STDM stockholder's..Let's hope for a Great 1998
