In 2008 the world economy discovered they had lost many tens of trillions of Dollars.

Nothing changes that loss of wealth.

Letting those losses become a 35% unemployment rate around the world would have only created larger losses than spending which has prevented that.

Recovery is quicker from a "total collapse" on a percentage basis only because you're starting from a much smaller economic base.
