Interesting. The pads seem to be the one area where price is important to consumers. Phones and computers are too critical. Pads are more of a luxury item.

I just started thinking that a Kindle might fit my future plans. I wanna go on a long trip and read the classics at night. Libraries are out of the question because of returns. Ordering cheapo paper back versions won't cut it unless I order them all before I leave. So a kindle might just work out for me on a trip like that.

The initial price is the rub... otherwise I CAN order a lot of books before I take off. Not too much of a big deal. But I could also order a kindle fire for $50, and books like Moby Dick are a buck.

The cheapest iPad Mini is more than 5 TIMES as much.

Just thinking out loud.

I could just use my coming laptop... but it seems like a kindle would be much more comfortable, and if I drop it off a cliff I'm only out $50.
