The volume doesn't suggest there's any unusual buying activity taking place today.

That's true. Volume came up about 8M short of the last 3 month's daily average.
BUT, look at the regularity of the advance yesterday and today. To me, that shows a buy program.
Who better to take up the buying slack than good old AAPL.
