The drug shortage is not limited to Canada. In this 2015 story covering the US situation, one of the main simple reasons is that pharma companies are just not making enough product. It sounds like the business case has stopped flashing "go" due to costs, prices and regulation? I guess it is implied that some of the big generic producers are facing some of the same factors... fortune.com
