I clicked over after thinking - self-interested short posting drivel - to be pleasantly surprised with a few interesting charts.

My comment there:

Very interesting volatility chart. I wonder what it looked like in 2000-2007? You can argue it two ways btw. This latest move is a minor bear (think RUT/broader mkt metrics) which is ending and which mirrors 2008/2009 with Aug being 2008 spike and last month being 2009 smaller spike OR we are setting up for worse.

Looking at chart further, you see same pattern in 2011. Big spike. Lesser spikes. And in 2014/2015. This chart simply showing the double bottom phenomenon we have discussed before and violence around it.

I think the author is highly suggesting look out below but the chart is simply interesting. The chart in article with moving averages is much more ominous if one wants to scare folks. This chart simply looks scary and tells history with no forecasting ability.
