Anant - Re: "It is a great post indeed. I always enjoy your humor. I am afraid I have to agree with your post. No matter what happens to INTC earnings flat, below or above expectations, Intel bashing by the analysts..."

Glad you liked it.

One of the classic "bashes" by an analyst was last April when Intel reported outstanding results at about 4:05 PM. AT 4:06 PM, Erika Klauer (then with Salomon) was being interviewed live on CNBC and she was downgrading Intel instantaneously - without having had time to EVEN READ INTEL's QUARTERLY REPORT.

She was focusing on anticipated depreciation expenses- neglecting of course that these expenses were the result of investing in and OWNING the capital equipment, plant and facilities required to produce the tens of millions of Pentiums/quarter that Intel produces.

Erika went on to make additional headlines with the most accurate call predicting AMD would hit a target price of $60 to $90 (she had company - Mark Edelstone, Michael Gumport, C.B. Lee and Drew PECK!) within the year, devastating Intel's x86 market share in the process. Alas, the year is nearly over and AMD is below $17.75 per share and their market share is still below 10%.

Needless to say, Intel today survives and Erika has faded into the recesses of yet another brokerage house, hidden from sight so as not to embarrass her new employer - Alex Brown I believe(?).

Analysts - ya gotta love 'em!
