Not that I am complaining at all about Teck's recent meteoric rise in SP (I sold today) but Investors certainly are a strange bunch aren't they?.

Teck has zero revenue from oil and wont have for at least a couple of years....higher oil prices actually hurt them financially as diesel fuel becomes more expensive and costs rise substantially in all of their mining operations. Also as oil rises, the Canadian dollar gets stronger which also impacts their bottom line.

So in conclusion, due to their 'new' link to the oil price - Teck's market valuation will rise as their costs increase and profitability falls.....& their market valuation will fall as their costs increase and profitability rises

It's a strange world out there folks....be safe.
