Scott, I use a free scan Douglas Gerlech's Investorama. Sounds kinda silly but it allows charting, research, and scans. I scan for volume over 30k average, low, lower than the past 40 mda. Volume higher than the 40 mda. This gives all of the possibles on NYSE, NASD, and AMX. Then I chart for breakthroughs of 120 mda on volume and look at fundies to see if there is anything to support the higher price. If not, it gets placed here for opinions from the experts. I have'nt traded any shorts for real, just on paper, until I get the feel of the whole thing. Buy stops are placed to protect capital in case the stock moves against me. I want to be able to do this in 1 to 3 days before any money is due at the broker. Hope this helps investorama.com Ken W
