does anyone think that if Trump is turned back, the GOP can continue on being a free-trade party financed by the Beltway agents of transnational corporations?
Open borders wouldn't work, because developed countries would simply get swamped by "migrants", like what is happening in Europe. But Isolationism wouldn't work either. Protected industries would quickly become stale and uncompetitive.

This said, it's impossible to remain competitive in a free trade situation if we are overwhelmed by costs due to PC and excessive regulation.
