You and honey_bee appear to want to continue these diatribes directed at me, and apparently anyone who might agree with my distaste for Donald Trump, by both accusing me of mean-spirited remarks directed at you, and accusing those who might agree with my opinions of being ‘followers’ … neither of which accusations is true. And those diatribes have continued both here, and on honey_bee’s own “Donald Will Trump Sanders and Hillary’ board.
These sentences (not personal attacks) are the only response I have written in answer to both your and honey_bee’s many and continuing personal posts directed toward me. Note that they are criticisms of the tone of your comments, not criticisms of your core beliefs, your ability to think for yourself, or of who you are.

Even the PfC poster who placed Mulholland Drive on ignore did not attack her personally. He simply stated that her gloating after Trump’s win last night was undignified. We have all done undignified things during our lives. My list would fill a small book, and I wish I could take each and every one of them back … past, present and future.
But intimating that some of the posters here on PfC are mindless lemmings, marching in ‘lock step’ with me (or anyone else on this board), is a personal attack of the worst kind.
The posters on this board are every bit as independent thinkers as anyone I, personally, have met on any other conservative forum. And, over the past four years, I have learned at least as much here as I have learned anywhere else on the forum internet. Before leaving for the airport on Tuesday, I printed out dozens of papers, in the hopes of being able to hand them out during my door-to-door experience in South Carolina. Many of those papers included printouts of invaluable links that were posted here on PfC. In addition, many of the ‘talking points’ that I used when speaking with people were ideas and arguments that were offered by posters right here on PfC and that I intended to use (and wound up doing so dozens of times) when discussing the candidates. (Apologies for the verbal plagiarism.) :)
So the accusation that some on this board are marching in ‘lock step’ with someone else (much less with me) are so beyond ludicrous as to be off the charts surreal.

Your and honey_bee’s posts to me have not only been critical of my opinions, and my methods of expressing them (both fair game for sure), but they have also cut significantly deeper than those common areas of civil disagreement in debates. They have been critical of the ability of other posters on this board to think for themselves; they have snickered at my occasional references to religion (the 'taint of a religiosity that claims the thin veil or cloak of authority'); they have resorted to derogatory name-calling (calling me the ‘simple board princess’, and calling posters who might agree with one of my opinions my ‘fan club’ or my ‘co-religionists’), and you evaluated the preface of my original post as ‘a lie’. She has even gone so far as to, on her own board, publicly mock as ‘hilarious’ some of the information I posted on my personal profile.
Do you not see a world of difference between viewing a single comment or behavior as ‘undignified’ (something I admitted to sometimes doing myself, in my original post) and attacking someone’s occasional references to her religious beliefs, attaching to her a sarcastic derogatory name based on the fact that some of her opinions are strongly supported, intimating that those who might agree with her are followers incapable of independent thought, and creating sarcastic derogatory names for them as well, and mocking what she chooses to share about her life?
You have apparently decided that this is going to be some kind of ‘personal crusade’ on your part (which certainly is your right). I apologize to the board for cluttering it with this additional post on this entirely OT issue, and will no longer litter the board with any more of this nonsense. There are (and always have been … but especially now) many more relevant and important issues to be discussed here, ones that far transcend taking up space with personal attacks and their rebuttals. And there are countless participants on this board who are extraordinarily capable of addressing those issues with intelligence, eloquence, and analytical abilities that are head and shoulders above what is to be found on other forums. |
