I have always been a fervent "Free Trader." But politically, that is not believed by the hourly earners.

i agree. it's not believed by most hourly workers.

Trump knows that to get the blue collar workers he needs a tariff, an immigration stop, and a Muslim stop.

again, i agree with your thinking on this. he's being expedient.

In my mind, his celeb plus these three issues are why he is leading.

plus he's taking on the establishment in other ways that the hourly worker understands and agrees with.

If he gets us out of the economic mess we are in by getting rid of regulations and business taxes and production goes up, the dollar will increase in value enough to overcome the tariff.

those are forces that indeed would make the dollar go up if all else were equal. but tariffs have a ripple effect that's hard to calculate. it's possible to lower taxes a lot and raise tariffs a little and still end up with more of a mess. taking that into consideration, i'd agree its possible, depending on how much taxes and regs get lowered.
