B) will survive, and C) will benefit disproportionately from the graphics-heavy AR/VR revolution that's about to hit...

If I understand you correctly, you believe that AMD will survive and do so on the basis of AR/VR. Is that correct? If so you apparently do not believe that Zen is critical to AMD's survival or the issues I raised would be of more significance. Correct also? If AMD can survive without a Zen success, was it a mistake to plow so much money into it's development in the first place? These all seem like reasonable questions if you or anyone else wishes to respond.
You did not understand me correctly.

AMD needs Zen, longer term.

IMHO AMD will survive (if not thrive) until they can get Zen out, due in part to A) the transition from 28nm to 14/16nm(!) and B) an AMD-friendly emerging VR/AR market,

Zen seems like it should fundamentally improve AMD's competitive position against Intel, who IMHO has gotten a little fat and lazy at just the wrong time.
