It's not that Iomega purposely altered them to foil Nomai. One of the properties of Iomega's patented retroreflector device is that it can work effectively at a wider range of distances than a simple curved reflector can. Therefore, Iomega's reflector will work in all Zip drives, but Nomai's won't. - Allen
