......i don't know. i just know from my reading and studying the japanese market that, without a doubt, you buy the best companies when they are beaten down. then, you wait until they come back before you sell any. this does not work well with second tier stocks like cyrix, amd, ascend etc. you need to trade those rapidly to survive.

......i probably should have sold on kurlak's recommendation--although i did sell 1/2 my position at 88 and am re-accumulating here in the 70's and i will definitley load up if we are blessed with 60's or 50's.

.....with great companies you need to trust that management is reorganizing as we speak and doing what is necessary for a great second half 1998-1999.

......now take msft--they are battling the justice dept. although it is a great company i am suspicious of the management for the first time and feel that they are being foolish taking on reno and company. i would not buy at 120 but might get interested in 100-110 after this big screw up. as far as i can see intel is following a cyclical pattern where they made a slight misstep in underestimating the growth of the low end PC. but i suspect that in 6 months they will be back on track.

......in 6 months MOST of the asian flu will be behind us and we will be anticipating a recovery--intel should do just fine by then--but this is just speculation--of course.
