Trump Promises to Silence Dissent as President

The Founding Fathers are not resting easily in their graves if they know some of us would consider turning the presidency over to someone like this:

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump on Friday vowed to “open up” libel laws in order to sue media outlets that write “purposely negative” and “horrible” articles about him.

“I’m gonna open up our libel laws, so when they write purposely negative and horrible, false articles, we can sue them and win lots of money,” Trump said at a rally in Fort Worth, Texas.

“We’re going to open up those libels laws,” he added. “So that when The New York Times writes a hit piece, which is a total disgrace, or when The Washington Post, which is there for other reasons, writes a hit piece, we can sue them and win money.”

The Donald went on to shout at his critics that they will be sued “like you’ve never got sued before.”

Normally Trump’s promises are easily dismissed in light of his past stances and behavior, but this one seems legit, considering how much effort he has expended bullying people through lawsuits.

If Trump is this openly tyrannical now, before even having secured the nomination, imagine what he will do to the First Amendment in order to silence his critics once in power. As noted previously, he is not running for president; he is running for dictator.

Good thing for the Donald that his decree revoking our right of free speech is not already in force. Bush 43 could sue for a pretty penny over the Code Pink lies Trump regurgitated in the South Carolina debate, when he falsely alleged that W deliberately lied to lead the country (and a large coalition of other countries) into war.
