Real manufacturing output in the United States hit a peak in 2008 before the recession. As of late 2014, we had recovered and surpassed that peak.

peter schiff said that we're now counting putting a burger together as 'manufacturing'. also, we're counting screwing 3 parts of a golf club together as 'manufacturing'. we're massaging the numbers to try to make the economy look better than it is. we can't trust the government for anything anymore. not even honest numbers.
