Elmer, Did the bamboo I slipped under your fingernail hit a nerve?
AMD fixed the yield problems otherwise Compaq would not have bought the AMD K^-6 @233 for the Presario line. It must realy eark you that another totaly loyal Intel customer has choosen to buy from AMD.Compaq ahs not officially announced the move yet. Undoubtly compaq is saving the announcement for a bigger event the AMD K^-6 @266 .25u cmos. Here a question for you. When they do announce how many points do you think it will shave off intel's price? Spot prices for the K^-233 have fallen in the replacement chip channel indicating an increased supply and availability. Further confirmation can be found from reading the Lehman Bros analist reports prevously posted here in pdf files. Downloand acrobat reader, or ask one of your Intel friends to post it for you.
Meanwhile the company you said does not posess the proper process technology Already demoed at comdex last month the AMD K-6 +3d .25u cmos. They do know how to make them they proved it and it blew Intel away. Ask anyone at comdex who saw the demo. Or read the trade publications. The AMD K-6 +3d has 21 million transistors. How many will Merced have?
