MrB--

Surprisingly, American Express isn't accepted everywhere but the 'extra luggage' you provided certainly assisted in dealing with vendors who don't honor the card.

You are indeed right. The French are not great fans of AMEX, but teh means of persuasion provided you by TED is familiar to them, given the level of activity of organized crime on the Riviera.

Yes, I am back, and confess I returned with some reluctance. The weather was far more clement than I'd expected. Quite warm, actually, and very sunny. More important, I found Nice a truly perfect place to be nonproductive. There is, in fact, almost nothing to do except move from caf‚ to caf‚, then sit on the beach for awhile, then take a nap and go out to dinner.

I know we'll all enjoy our meeting there a great deal, and to taht end have reserved the eighth floor of the Negresco for the second week of March. The Negresco does, of course, take AMEX.
