Recession fears could be diminished as the U.S. labour market continued to grow last month, continuing to be a bright spot within the U.S. economy, according to the latest data from the Labor Department. Friday, the Bureau of Labour Statistics said 242,000 jobs were created in February, well above expectations. Consensus forecast were expecting to see job gains around 195,000. January also so positive revision to its payrolls with the department saying that 171,000 jobs were created in the first month of the year, up from the initial report of 151,000. December employment was also revised higher to 271,000, up from the previous report of 262,000.
Over the last three months job gains have averaged 228,000.
At the same time the unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.9%, in line with expectations. |
