OT/Hi John. Astronomy is cool. Mrs Patch and I were members of the Las Vegas Astronomical Society when we lived out there in the 1980s. Even edited their newsletter for a year. Also gave an hour slide presentation and talk about Western European Archaeoastronomy .

Group scheduled regular outings 20 - 30 miles away from the Las Vegas light pollution to aim our scopes into some incredibly clear, dark, desert, skies not unlike what ancient astronomers enjoyed thousands of years ago in comparable climates. We still have our 10" Meade Schmidt-Cassegrain scope. Just need to get the clock drive motor fixed.

Thanks for triggering a lot of wonderful memories of the folks out there, the times we enjoyed in their company, and the many things we learned from them.
