SYNONYMS: deduce, conclude, conjecture, surmise, reason. interpret, gather understanding, presume, ASSUME , extrapolate- read between the lines- figure (out) reckon.
"Is it really possible to INFER that a crime was committed given the FLIMSY EVIDENCE?"
