Trump Is Already Abandoning Immigration Stance

We didn’t need to wait for Trump to take power or even for him to secure the nomination for him to predictably dump his transparently insincere hard line on immigration. He is already doing it, right before our eyes. From Ace’s scorecard on last night’s debate in Detroit:

epudiated the Jeff Sessions Immigration Plan — which was the only reason to support him — by declaring he was “changing” and “softening” it because we need all these highly-skilled people to take our jobs. Then said he would be “flexible” on the wall and deporting illegals and pretty much admitted he’d said as much to the New York Times editorial board, and then, in case you were unsure if you’d heard him right, praised Marco Rubio’s Amnesty plan as “fine” and a good opening bargaining position.

Hopefully no one is surprised by this. Remember that Trump denounced Romney in 2012 for supposedly blowing the election by being “mean-spirited” to Hispanics with his policy of encouraging illegal aliens to self-deport. Regarding the grade for Trump’s overall performance:

I don’t even know how to even start grading this. As far as a letter grade, I give a red X carved crudely through the face of a rotting pig with a bunch of stripper-glitter tossed on it. But I’m sure Drudge has a poll up proving that Drumpf won the debate in a blowout. Fortunately for Trump, his hardcore backers can’t back out now, because that would mean admitting that they have been duped by a second-rate conman with the phony immigration talk.
