Like you, I think the Y2K problem is overblown, in that most companies will have converted important programs before the year 2000 deadline.

However, from what I have seen, they may have to divert a major portion of their IT Dept's manpower to do so. The real economic effect may lie in the limitations that this places on new corporate productivity gains over the next couple of years.

PS - This has got to be one of the most stupid moves of any Asian country. What does one of the poorest countries in the world need these for?
