More than half of Canadians live farther south than Seattle. For those interested in geography.

Map created by reddit user Machetegun

While the 49th parallel is often thought of as the border between the US and Canada, the vast majority of Canadians (roughly 72%) live below it, with 50% of Canadians living south of 45°42' (45.7 degrees) north or the red line above.

49th parallel is the northern border of ND, MT, ID, WA. 72% of Canadians actually live south of that parallel.

Half of Canadians live farther south than the upper peninsula of Michigan, basically between New York state and Michigan.

39% of the US population lives in counties that border the ocean. I'm pretty sure if counties bordering the Great Lakes were added (think Milwaukee, Chicago, Gary, Detroit, Cleveland, Buffalo) I think we'd get to 50% +. I wonder what percent it would be if you counted navigable rivers? I'm guessing above 80%, perhaps 90%.
