TC, say what you will about IBM, but OS/2 was a fine product, that lost out to superior marketing and a mickey-mouse interface. I used it -- and sang its praises -- for almost its entire product life (I consider it to have died about a year ago... now they're trying to make something Java/Citrix-like out of it). Unfortunately, the lack of software (due to the lack of an installed base) made it an unrealistic OS to run for anyone who wanted to use ANY popular software. I abandoned it when I couldn't find even a half-decent word processor for it.

I once had a problem getting a new video card to work with OS/2. I called IBM toll-free late one night, and was connected with a knowledgeable individual in just a few minutes, who told me exactly what to change in my config files. Here's the kicker -- a week or two later, an IBM engineer calls me at home on a Sunday afternoon to make sure that everything is working out OK! Try to get that from Mickeysoft.

End of sermon. :-)
