I finished our outhxxxx today.
I plan to use it as a root cellar until we really need it.

It is 6x8 with lots of racks for garden tools inside and soon more outside, and shelves for about 125 rolls of (guess what) inside.

The pit is 4'x4'x4' , with walls lined with 1" cedar planks, screwed to treated posts in the corners. I put 8" of loose wheat straw in the bottom for now along with some plastic milk pails from Duluth to hold sweet potatoes, squash, etc., in the fall.

Installed 2 - 6x14 ventilation vents. One in each of 2 walls...one high, one low. Also a 3" PVC pipe, roof vent all the way into the pit.

Also put an upright concrete block in the pit to make it easy to climb in and out, until and if, it is ever used for you know what.

Installed a no noise toilet seat on a 3'6"x3'6" box made to fit an exact prepared location. Opening is precut but covered with temporary and easily removeable plywood, over the pit. The box is stored under the house for now. It just needs to be centered over the pit and secured with a precut and predrilled, 2x4 block on each side, that screws to the floor opening framing.

Our 1,000 SF (20' x 50') sealed crawl space with as much as 5' head clearance is good for that storage and very much more.

The spot perks quite well and should be good for the 2 of us for as long as we ever need it.
